Job Description

Applicants must have experience in disassembling and assembling AC/DC and electric motors and winding electric motors. Responsible for troubleshooting, testing motors, and all other assigned duties. Electric Motor Rewinder Apprentice

 

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect various kinds of electromechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
  • Test condition of windings according to EASA AR100.
  • Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to unit’s electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability.
  • Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electromechanical equipment.
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
  • Rewind various kinds of electromechanical equipment, including but not limited to: single-phase, three-phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors, and transformers. Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
  • Test rewound electromechanical equipment according to EASA AR100 and document test results.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
  • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other skilled and non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs a distance of 2 feet; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, grasp or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Energy Management Corporation (EMC), located in Salt Lake City, has an opening for a generator field service technician position working out of a number of regional areas.

The generator field service technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, performing preventive maintenance and perform start-ups on generator equipment including automatic transfer switches. This position reports to the local service manager. Most people that get into this industry find it very interesting and enjoyable. Senior Motor Specialist

 

Energy Management Corporation (EMC), headquartered in Salt Lake City, has an opening for a Senior Motor Specialist.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Applicants must have experience in disassembling and assembling 3 phase AC and DC electric motors. Responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and testing large (500 hp+) electric motors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Disassemble, test, and repair large motors.
  • Tests coils, armatures, stator, rotor, and field coils for continuity, shorts, and grounds and insulation resistance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Be able to attend and pass our bearing certification program.
  • Assemble motors to strict standards included in our EASA Accreditation.
  • Test run completed jobs and take baseline vibration signatures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten years’ experience in large motor repair (over 500 HP) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AC generators, DC motors, and AC wound rotor motors.
  • Motor winding or machining/welding experience is a plus.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Be computer literate. 
  • Ability to communicate well with customers in a service environment is a must.
  • Safety and knowledge of high voltage test equipment is a must.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well unsupervised.
  • Have own basic mechanical and electrical testing tools.
  • Be capable of medium voltage work (4160 V+).

VFD Field Service Technician

Position Summary:Plan and coordinate activities concerned with installing equipment, investigation and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and elimination future operational or service difficulties by erforming the following duties:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Answer technical questions and provide high level of support for the sales department
  • Provide quotations for customers on the repair job
  • Interact with customers over the phone to provide answers to technical questions
  • Installs new or modified drives at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electronics or Electrical preferred
  • Experience in Power Quality
  • Applicants will have strong electrical or electronic background, able to  read schematics, mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and computer literate.
  • VFD knowledge, logic control experience, and component level troubleshooting experience preferred.
